Weld County names new Air Quality Policy Analyst

Dr. Annareli Morales has been named as the new Air quality policy analyst with Weld County Department of Public Health and Environment. In her now role she will be responsible for analysis of air quality policy on criteria pollutants, hazardous air pollution, air toxics, greenhouse gases, and strategies to help Colorado meet its climate goals and ozone attainment. 

Dr. Morales is a first-generation, Mexican-American raised in a low-income, single parent home in Cicero, IL, USA. She earned her atmospheric science degrees from the University of Illinois, Colorado State University, and the University of Michigan. She has supported field campaigns with education and outreach in Argentina and published research on applying cultural communication styles to engage Hispanic and Latinx adults as an NCAR Advanced Studies Program postdoctoral fellow. Dr. Morales worked as a research scientist with the NOAA Cooperative Institute for Research in Environmental Science researching precipitation over mountains and the physical processes involved with cloud and precipitation development. She is now the air quality policy analyst for the Weld County Department of Public and Environmental Health in Colorado.
